Birdwatching excursions

With more than 650 recorded species of birds, Borneo is a real birdwatcher’s paradise. The state of Sarawak is home to an extensive portion of Borneo’s exotic birds, including many endemic species which are only found here.
Numerous national parks and Important Bird Areas (IBAs) offer great opportunities to spot some of the colourful feathered creatures. Amongst the best destinations for birdwatching nearby Kuching are Kubah National Park, the Borneo Highlands Resort, Semenggoh Nature Reserve or the Bako-Buntal-Bay. But also Northern Sarawak has many great birding sites, such as Mulu National Park or Pulong Tau National Park.
Many of the highly sought after bird species amongst birdwatchers can be found in Sarawak, like the Bornean Bristlehead, Blue-banded Pitta, Pygmy White-eye, Bornean Blue Flycatcher or the Chinese Egret.
